It came from a user on the forum who had difficulty trying to find files within the processed folder to do an update. I mentioned that PT3's competitor moved processed files into a date oriented subdirectory system and that if PT3 did this the user could more easily the files he was looking for. Low and behold, the next beta update had the 'date' subdirectory functionality, but also included a site reference as well which was not asked for.

The point being, is that if people want to maintain a database with only the last 'x' amount of data, then a date based processed subdirectory system makes this a little easier than hunting for files within a single large directory... yes, I appreciate that most HH files have a date encoding in the name but there is always an easy and easier way of doing things.

As it currently stands with PT3, the functionality is only for the auto-import stream which is going to exclude a lot of historical HH files from being re-processed. This needs to be addressed as it currently reduces the functionality of this idea.

I also agree that the functionality probably needs to be user configurable... on/off.

fwiw, this functionality and the ability to provide a higher level graph of winnings are the only two features of PT3's competitor that I use.

if people want HH from a date range, the built in windows search feature solves this wonderfully. If you can't figure out how to search a date range...oy.

if this is really necessary, then big vote for by SITE, not date.. or make it configurable. Pain in my butt to grab files from all over the place every couple of days - since I just winrar complress all my processed files into one file to save space. I'd compromise by site location as on occasion when i look for stuff from a site, but arg. This really clutters my system.

Agreed... but just about any file cut/copy/paste operation in Windows results in the date attribute of the file being reset to that day's date.

I just drag/move them all the time and the dates stay correct...

OK here is why this fix is awful.

I am about to submit a bug report.

I need all of today's HH files as they are across three sites.

Major pain in the buttski to navigate through ALL those subdirectories to get to the files. If it weren't such a long running bug it would deter me at times from submitting since it's a pain.

Seriously, please remove.configure.whatever.

Don't look at me :)

If it had been implemented on a strictly date basis, all your HH would be in the same place.

they would be if it hadnt been implemented at all too... plus, the year subdivided by MM/DD is an unnecessary level entirely. Just label the dang things mm-dd-yy. No need to subdivide that extra layer. If you are doing that why not have subfolder by month too? (rhetorical point)

Everyone is going to want to organize their stuff differently. Which means don't force people down to the lowest denominator.

This is really a silly feature to be wasting energy over, but I really question the value add for the majority of people here. Put it back to simpl eand put the resources to work on the stuff that actually matters.

p.s. I don't know what sites the person originally requesting this mess plays on, but stars and tilt, by far the two biggest, code the YY MM DD into the file NAME of each of their files. so really, don't see how it's hard to find them in a common folder.

I believe the plan at this point will likely be to let this functionality be disabled in our next Beta release, though I don't have an estimated date for that release at this point in time.

Specifically you will be able to toggle the by site and by date functionality individually.
