With one exception (start/end time/date) all of the information is sent immediately as its processed. So any valid line will update that piece of information. So this would be the minimum, but it would update nothing:

Code: Select all
PokerTracker 3 Tournament Summary
Site: Bodog
Game: Holdem
Tournament #: 2659

Then any lines you add in addition to that information would update that particular information. (Such as the place example you made.)

OK well that is at least a lot less. However, my request that you consider taking a flat row with a delimiter in the future stands though. Really much asier for most of us to handle, especially if we are trying to utilize random downloaded data or even constructing our own sheets.

I have forwarded in the past the stars player audit history file.

Here's an example. It took me all of 3 minutes to generate this pivot table..and only a few more would be needed to add in the delimiter and the word prefixes. (Again imagine columns neatly below. This BBS doesnt like columnar pasting....

Bumping this .... any thoughts guys? I got a slew of R/A for stars to add to the DB and this way would be pretty simple, but it neither erros nor adds the R/A numbers.

I think we're going to have to treat it like a bug. Can you attach the hands and the summary you created to a ticket?

All i did was make a few of those little summaries. You want the original HH files for those tournies plus my little summary file?

Yeah, just one pair is fine.

(Thhis was the response on my ticket...) This method will not overwrite non-zero values - this is deliberate so that manually entered/altered values are not overwritten if you re-import a summary file.
When I import the attached HH then then summary file the add-on info is imported but the re-buy is not (because there was already a re-buy imported from the HH file).
If I set the rebuy number and amount to zero and save then re-import the summary the info is imported. (I realise that doesn't help here, but just to test that the mechanism works.)

while I get that you are trying to keep manual values from being over-written, you don't know what is a manual value and what isn't. (Also, won't it over-ride the number of players/finish? I Know that when stars summaries for tourneys are imported it does that....)

For R/A kinda stuff this is fine for 99% of the sites since they don't give you any data and you can't get any from HH and don't happen to try and compute them

But for stars, the fact that you try and compute them (which we all know doesn't work right) guarantees that we need to manually fix them, and therefore turns the whole process into a cluster FF&^) .

It's hard enough to manually do it, figuring out what has been corrected or not already due to the always erroneous calculation. (It's NEVER right).

Now I find a simplish workaround for this and that can't be used either because you don't record what is a manual change and you also use a known faulty algorithm to guess wrongly at R/A

To me, this falls in the category of: it doesn't work right, so get rid of it until it does.

Especially because I sent you guys that account audit report in another thread/ticket, which could be used to easily automate this stuff, but I haven't heard any progress on it. And what I have basically done is wrote some macros and stuff to do this anyway sine the original file format is so simple. So it took me 2 hours and I'm a rank amateur...... but then I find out that my solution still won't work.

ARGGGG.

So, IMO plz get rid of the faulty R/A calcs for stars..... like I said we all know they are wrong, so why put in half assed data... and 2) put a tick box on manual import that lets you over-ride any previous data.. or if that is deemed too dangerous then you need to keep track of what was manually entered, item by item. Your current rules assume that anything already there cannot be over-written if I understand that correctly. (Yet I know that is false since the number of players is routinely over-written by the stars tournament summaries, as is the placement.)

Why am i so agitated on this? Well after doing my US taxes recently.. it's a NIGHTMARE without a single master set of records. TO the degree that I can keep all records for a site complete and accurate in PT3 it makes life 10,000% easier. (Well, that and the fact that the current situation with this issue is well...dumb. If you are going to protect me from myself, then protect me from myself. Current method doesn't do that at all.)

Going to repost this in the thread so that all appropriate people read it.

OK- I have to move myself beyond ranking of amateur.

I can do this myself in probably two hours so it will actually update my PT3db

1) Download stars audit report to PC
2) record macro in access that imports audit file
3) write query that strips out the R/A lines and summarizes them giving me total R/A by tny #
4) open a link from my access DB to the PT3DB. This link type enables me to directly update the PT3DB tables (OK I Know dangerous... but I want my records straight)
5) write an query in access that:
- joins the tourney_holdem_results table to my results of item 3 query (linking on id_tourney and selecting for id_player_real = me.)
-issues an update query type- this will actually update teh PT3 DB for the fields specified. In this case amt_rebuy, amt_addon, cnt_rebuy and cnt_addon

My over under on doing this is 2 hours. Assuming I haven't screwed anything up (and I think I haven't) this is an easy solution for me.
It then makes me go... well if it's so easy for me, why isn't it so easy for you? ;)

So, I'll let you know when it's working. Let me know if you want the actual SQL code from it- access will spit it out.
