Error updating PT3

Postby DMoogle » Tue May 11, 2010 7:11 am

I just upgraded from 3.05 to 3.07 BETA, and as soon as I started the database update, I received this error message:

I clicked OK, and it immediately said the database update has completed. What's up?

I don't think that will cause a problem - it just says that the column the update was trying to add is already in your database. Is this the first time you have run 3.07?
Is PT3 running OK now?

Yes, this is the first time I've run anything higher than 3.05. I don't seem to have any problem using the database (quickly checking stats and such), but every time I run PT3, it tries to update and I get this error message.

IIRC my database is about 20GB, so it seems unlikely that it would finish updating instantaneously. Also, I do NOT have PT3 Omaha, I only have the Hold'em part (although I've probably accidentally imported some Omaha hands a few times).

Please try downgrading to 3.06.2, starting up PT3 and letting any database updates complete, then upgrading back to 3.07 and let me know if that fixes things for you.

OK, I downgraded to 3.06.2, and now it doesn't even ask to update the database (which also means no error message). Is there a way I can check to make sure that the database has indeed been updated?

Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL 8.3 --> psql to 'postgres'

Enter your password if prompted (default is dbpass) and hit enter (you won't even see *s, just hit enter anyway).

Once you're into the database, type \l and hit enter to list the databases, then \connect "Your Database Name" and hit enter to connect to your database (if your database includes a space, you need the quotes). The prompt will change to let you know you've connected properly.

Then run this query:
SELECT setting_value from settings where setting_name = 'dbversion';

(copy/paste that line, hit enter) and let me know the version results.
