searching players

I am a new user of Poker tracker and just a simple question. Can you only see and search players on the sites if you have played at a table with them? There is no way to just search a player to check there stats?

You are correct, you must have played with someone to see their stats. Pokertableratings gives an overview of net profit and number of hands played. It has nothing that tells you VP$IP, PFR, or any detailed stat other than a "Looseness Analysis" that simply compares a player to the rest of the field, e.g. "dustkid is looser than 0.7% of the population at $1/$2 NL Hold'em (2 max)." PT3 provides 1000 times more information on players.
So, use PTR to quickly see if they are a winning player, and then use PT3 to find their weaknesses.
