Purging Tourney Types

Postby PJs Ronin » Fri Dec 24, 2010 3:40 am

Elsewhere, I read that to get rid of unused tourney types a "purge players w/o hands" would initiate a clean up process. Didn't work for me. So, how do we get rid of all those tourney types?

Yeah yeah, this is a prelude to my next big request, but work with me huh?

That should do it, I'm told. If you apply a filter to the tournament type you're expecting to be removed, are no tournaments returned?

Sorry, I have no idea what you mean by this.

Sorry - that is a bit of a rubbish sentence, isn't it..

Pick a tournament type which you're expecting to be removed when you purge, and apply a filter for that specific type and see whether it lists any tournaments. (Just to make sure you don't still have one linked somewhere.)

Ummm

It would appear that during 2010 I have tried every type of tourney known to man. I see a change coming in 2011.

Then again, if you need HH on any tourney type I probably have them here somewhere

Ah-hah!!

I finally found a tourney type(s) I haven't played and therefore didn't get any listed, but the purge didn't remove the types from the options list. One was an 'in-built' and the other was one I 'invented'.

So boy-oh, where do we go from here?

You shouldn't have types for any tournaments you haven't played - the list is built dynamically as a tournament type is imported/detected. It's possible it was a type that was detected and then changed, I suppose.

I will report this to the development team - 'purge players without hands' is supposed to remove unused types.
Have you restarted PT3 since the purge? I'd expect the list to be cleared after a Refresh, but it might need a restart.

Have you checked this for omaha too? It's possible the type was created for omaha, although in that case I wouldn't expect to see it in the list for holdem (it might be, though).

Will try and answer your questions:

1. The Tourney Type List. You said this is built dynamically. I don't see evidence of that although I might be looking in the wrong place. The main area I'm looking in is the Tournaments > Enter Holden Results or Tournaments > Enter Omaha Results and the Table Type list is as long as my arm with every type of tourney known to man.

2. Yes, PT3/VB/session/computer restarted many times; list of tourney types unchanged.

3. The Tourney Types list, no matter which tab is selected (Omaha or Holdem) shows types for all tournies possible. For example, I created a tourney type 'MTT 6-max Omaha H/L' and I can 'see' this type under both the Omaha and Holdem tabs. When I say 'see' I mean I have the option of selecting this tourney type although the filter only produces results in the Omaha section... as expected.

No offence, but this Tourny Types cleanup function appears a little 'ad hoc' for lack of better phraseology.
