Editing "Add Table Types" Option

Postby Equallizer » Fri Mar 18, 2011 5:05 am

In Holdem Tournament Results option you can select the "Add Table Types" Option and enter your own definition.

How can I delete one if I made a mistake and / or delete the Table Types already listed so that my list is not so long when
searching for the proper table type.

There isn't currently a function directly within PT3 to do this, but you can edit these via PostgreSQL directly.

Click Start --> PostgreSQL 8.3 --> psql to 'postgres'. If prompted, enter your postgres database password (the default is 'dbpass', without the quotes). At the postgres=# prompt, type \l and hit enter to list the databases. To connect to a database type \connect 'database name' - it is case sensitive, and if there are spaces, you will need those quotes. The prompt will change to show you that you've connected.

You can see all table types with this command:

select * from tourney_table_type;

To delete a given row:

delete from tourney_table_type where id_table_type = x;

Change X to the id_table_type in the very left column of the output from the prior command and it will be deleted - please note that this is permanent and cannot be undone.

To change the description:

update tourney_table_type SET description = 'Whatever you want that's new' where id_table_type = x;

That should be most of the permutations you would want. When any update or delete command is run the prompt will say either UPDATE 1 or DELETE 1. You can see the current list at any time by running the original select query.

Don't Understand:
Click Start --> PostgreSQL 8.3 --> psql to 'postgres'.

If I go to my Windows 7 directory of Program Files > PostgreSQL 8.3 > postgres

I have the diectories of BIn,data, ........pgadmin, share

Tried PGadmin but your instructions don't match and ran postgres from c: Dos Prompt and after I entered Password screen disappeared quickly
couldn't read the message.

You can do it in PGAdmin by connecting to your database, then using the small SQL notepad icon to run queries against it at the top.

The database you want to connect to is your PT3 database - the command line method I gave you earlier connects to postgres first, then your PT3 database - in PGAdmin you just want to connect to your PT3 database straight away.

Once you bring up the query executor (that is the right one), this query (when connected to a PT3 database) will give you the list of what is in the table types table:

select * from tourney_table_type;

You'll see the output in the bottom half of the window, and you can run the other queries as you desire as explained above.

Got that. I selected option #3 in the List MTT (6 Max) and thought i could just select CUT option and it
would be gone. No such luck.

Guessing you are going to tell me that i will have to specifiy address , data, replacement,.....?

You can either use the "delete" or "update" queries that kraada gave you earlier in this thread, or click the "grid" icon in the toolbar to "view the data in the selected object" (when you have the "tourney_table_type" table selected) and right-click a row to delete it.
Make sure you have PT3 closed while you do this, and do not remove any rows (tourney types) which are in use. You could cause problem in PT3 by doing this, so I'd suggest that you make a Backup of your database first.
