UI colors

Postby 1111 » Wed Feb 06, 2013 5:40 am

While I have nothing to complain about the general user interface itself, the all-white color scheme of the program makes my eyes ache and thus I'm always using PT4 with the assistance of a program that inverts the screen colors(http://arcanesanctum.net/negativescreen/).
When I'm playing, however, I'm using the regular screen mode and I find it frustrating to switch between that and inverse.

How hard would it be to make the user interface colors customizable?
Is there anyone else here who thinks that the all-white color scheme is unpleasant?

Yours is the first complain that I've heard about it, but that doesn't mean you're the only one to think it! There's no way to alter the general color scheme at this time, but I've made a note of your comment and I'll talk to the developers about it at the appropriate time and we'll see what we can do.

bad idea to allow skinning or something here. keep the program identity.

although i would like the idea of having less white on screen.

I've actually been told by one of the developers we are using system colors so it may be possible to change the Windows system colors and affect changes to the way PT4 looks, but I haven't had a chance to play around with it myself yet.

I agree! All white themes are not only disturbing for the eyes. It also puts heavy load on big monitors and electricity/environment. People with eye difficulties or eye treatments are blinded by the all white themes.

Can you confirm that changing the Windows settings aren't affecting PT4? As I was told by the developer if you choose a dark Windows theme, it should affect PT4 windows.

@ Kraada

I just tested a new Windows theme (one of MS's inbuilt themes) in a Win 7 Pro 64 bit VM. Cannot see any discernible change to PT4 colouration.

Went from 'Windows 7' to 'Scenes' (puke).

(sorry for the delay... got tied up playing with Raring)

Select the ADVANCED option on Window Color (personalize section) and adjust the colors in the menu options. Like this:
